Our Programs

Arts Education & Youth Empowerment

S.O.C.A. offers culturally grounded arts education programs that celebrate Caribbean heritage while empowering youth. From carnival traditions to musical expression, our workshops promote healing, learning, and pride—especially among Black and marginalized youth.

Arts Education & Youth Pathway Programs

By intertwining the rich history of Caribbean artistic expressions with meaningful cultural engagement, our programs empower youth to overcome adversity, embrace their heritage, and build a brighter future.

S.O.C.A. Kids Club

The S.O.C.A. Kids Club introduces and acquaints children with their artistic heritage, produces physical skill, and stimulates imagination and creativity through the carnival arts which include dance, music, and colourful costume making.

Healing Through the Arts

Introduction to carnival arts programming designed with a focus on mental health prioritizing youth in urban or at-risk areas.
This program provides a therapeutic environment where music or mas-making serves as a medium for expression and healing from trauma.
Partnership opportunities with schools, community centers, and mental health professionals.

Caribella Mas Carnival Arts Workshops

Carnival Arts workshop and presentation researched and curated to be aligned with the TCDSB 2023-2026 Equity Action Plan specifically Part B “Dismantling Anti-Black Racism Strategy.”
Caribella Mas shares carnival and its elements of freedom to all. This group comprised of four Caribbean women visit various spaces throughout Toronto and Peel region sharing an interactive presentation on the art of mas: a platform for storytelling, using fabrics, feathers, gems, and more!
