ROOTS & BRANCHES
Tamla Matthews is a recognized Canadian dance artist, choreographer, community leader, and educator specializing in Afro-Caribbean dance. She is the founder and director of Roots and Branches (also known as the Roots and Branches Children's Dance Program). Roots and Branches serves as a vital community hub for children, youth, and families to engage with Afro-Caribbean cultural heritage through dance, music, and performance. Tamla uses traditional and contemporary Afro-Caribbean dance to foster Black pride, strengthen youth identity, and bring authentic Caribbean dance artforms into prominent theatrical and educational spaces.
